Kibitzer's Corner
Dec-07-09  sambo: 21 Bh6 is pretty flashy. If 21...gxh6 white has a very good position, but I'm not sure why 22...gxh6 is bad. Thoughts?
Dec-07-09  computer chess guy: < sambo: 21 Bh6 is pretty flashy. I'm not sure why 22...gxh6 is bad. > 23. ♕g3 ♔f8 24. ♕g7+ ♔e8 25. ♘xf6+ ♗xf6 . ♗h6 is a standard motif in this opening.
Dec-07-09  Smothered Mate: 23. Qg3 is not possible.
Dec-07-09  JohnBoy: If 21...gh6 then 22.Qg3+ Kf8 23.Qg7+ K38 24.Nxf6 is just fine for white.

If 22...gh6 then 23.f6 and black can fold it up. For example 23...Bf8 24.Rg3+ Kh8 25.Qxf7, when black must surrender mate on g7 to avoid mate on g8.

Dec-07-09  JohnBoy: What I don't get here is why this game is 0-1 in the final position. Time loss? Rather early for that - move 31.
Dec-08-09  sambo: <For example 23...Bf8 24.Rg3+ Kh8 25.Qxf7, when black must surrender mate on g7 to avoid mate on g8.>

The black queen on b7 still guards f7, but point taken; 25.Qg4 seals it.
