  Chessical: MacDonnell loses as White literally in the opening. He appears to have discounted <11...Ne4> as a reply to pushing his <f> pawn. For a player of his strength, it could only be that he had calculated as far as <16.fxe5> believing he would win back the Bishop.

This misapprehension accounts for <15.Bh4?> rather than <15.Nxd7>. Mackenzie's <16...Nxe5!> leaves him with an overwhelming advantage, two very powerful Bishops raking against a broken K-side, the open f file for his Rooks and a pawn.
