Kibitzer's Corner
Dec-09-04  Knight13: Black is hopeless after the move 34. Good use of Bird's Opening. The Bishop at b2 is well placed.

I suggest 31... Rc7.

Dec-09-04  akiba82: <Knight13> If both rooks can play to c7 you need to distinguish which rook you mean. Either Rcc7 or Rdc7 in this example.
Dec-09-04  Knight13: <akiba82> Oh yeah I forgot. 31... Rcc7 was my suggestion.

After this, 32. ♗a3 with the threat of 33. dxe6 fxe6 34. ♖f8+! ♘xf8 35. ♖xf8+ ♔h7 36. ♘d6 , looks powerful.

To stop this attack, Black may have to give up the exchange with 32. ♗a3 exd5 33. cxd5 ♖xd5 34. ♘d6 ♖xd6 . I'm not sure of the outcome.

Dec-10-04  drukenknight: there seems to be a problem with that pawn getting to the sixth rank, another recurring theme. I think you are onto the right problem move.
Dec-10-04  drukenknight: I think its lost by that pt. The blunder comes right before 28...exd5 was obviously better. But what about on move 29...Ng5? is that more challenging?

Not sure. White's idea must be to try to rip the dark squares around Black's king with 30. ♘xg5 hxg5 and eventual ♗b2-♗c1-♗xg5 followed by ♙h6 . It probably starts something like 29...♘g5 30. ♘xg5 hxg5 31. ♖df1 ♘c7 32. d6 with 33. ♗c1 next.
