Black was indeed Ronald Cadell MacDonald (1868-1942), a six times Scottish Champion: 1901, 1904, 1905, 1906, 1927 and 1928; and eight times BCCA Champion: 1924, 1925, 1926, 1930, 1932, 1933, 1935 and 1937.
