Kibitzer's Corner
Aug-07-09  dx9293: A game with a lot of intrigue when it was played...

plang: 14..Rad8 was a new move that Magerramov had suggested in 1986 in preparation for one of the Karpov matches; 14..Rxe3!? and 14..Ng4 had been played previously. Black would have had good compensation after 15 Na4..Qd6 16 Nxc5..Nxc5 17 Bxc5..Qb8. Kasparov's exchange sacrifice 18..Nc2! was very promising and might have led to a win had he followed up with 20..Na3! 21 Qc1..Rxe2 22 Qxa3 (Kasparov here recommended 22..Be4 while GMs in the Press Room liked 22..Qa4). Kasparov expected 26 Qb5; after he saw 26 Qb4! he realized that he had nothing better than the repetition.
Oct-09-15  QueensideCastler: Kasparov may have sacrificed the exchange although somewhat dubious After all.

plang: Not sure what you mean - Kasparov was not worse after the sacrifice unless you are saying he had a more promising alternative
Mar-13-16  QueensideCastler: 14...♜xe3!? 15. fxe3 15...♞g4 with some compensation although according Stockfish the line is slightly dubvious.
