Jan-25-05  mikhs: Why can't white capture the knight? 29.Rxc3

  tpstar: 1) He can
2) He didn't
3) He lost
Jan-25-05  euripides: This was exactly the time that Nimzowitsch and Rubinstein were playing games blockading weak central pawns as white against the QGD Tarrasch defence and the French. Here Flamberg does something similar.

Like <mikhs>, I am puzzled by 29...Rxc3 30 Nf2. It looks as if there might be a combination based on pins on d4 but I don't see it.

beatgiant: How does Black win against 30. Qxc3?

samvega: White perhaps played 27.Rcxd1 -- that would be a typical transcription error.

Would 27.Rcxd1 have been an unreasonable move? I think the c-pawn could eventually be won even after 27.Rfxd1. At any rate 27.Rcxd1 makes more sense of the subsequent play.

beatgiant: <samvega: White perhaps played 27.Rcxd1> Maybe, but then how would Black win against 30. Qxg5, and why didn't Black play 29...Nxd1? Does anyone have another source for this game?

samvega: oops you're right, the game would make even less sense if 27.Rcxd1.
Jan-26-05  aw1988: <tpstar> Very convincing variations.

Jan-27-05  euripides: are we in some kind of loop here ?
Jan-27-05  aw1988: LOL tpstar. That's hilarious. <euripides> Apparently. :)
