WannaBe: <Fgomezpimientah> Boy that's a hard name to type... (Have to copy/paste your name from now...)

Yes, 0-1 means black won... Before I try to answer your why not Rxd5, let us examine the board...

White has Q, R, N, B, 4 pawns.
Black has Q, R, B, N, 4 pawns.

Even material. The pawn is threatening both the Q and N. You can't protect them both. (Unless you take with the R, like you are proposing)

Here is what I think will happen...

25. Rxd5 Nb6!

Now the N got the Q and R forked. You probably want to move the queen, and lose the R. Even if Q moves to c3, the N would still take, because Q is backing the N. So you would have this...

Now, white just lost a R.

Jan-24-06  EmperorAtahualpa: Fgomezpimientah...that's certainly a spicy name! :)
Jan-24-06  EmperorAtahualpa: By the way, another possible line I think is 25.Rxd5 Nb6 26.Rd6+ (discovered check) Nxc4 27.Rxc6 Rxe4 and Black is a knight down instead of a rook. Of course, this still loses for Black, but nitpicky as I am I just wanted to point it out. :)
Jan-24-06  shirova: <EmperorAtahualpa> I guess you are saying White still lost instead of Black lost.
Jan-25-06  EmperorAtahualpa: <I guess you are saying White still lost instead of Black lost.>

Damn, I make that mistake all the time! :) Thanks, <shirova>.

Jan-25-06  Father Karras: This sort of low quality game never gets kibitzed unless the players themselves are members of chessgames and want to publicize their effort:P
Jan-28-06  Fgomezpimientah: Dear friends:
First of all, I promiss to change my name. Second, after Nb6, why not Rxc5, (Discovered check, and winning a Pawn),n this line I think white may end with two pawns for a knight. Please consider I have been away from "the board" for a long time, and I appreciate a lot your comments. To Emperor Atahualpa, who I assume is from South America, your comment regarding my last name is correct, Pimienta in Spanish, as I am sure you kmow, means Pepper. Best Regards to all.

May-08-06  Tariqov: <Fgomezpimientah>After 26.Rxc5+Nxc4 27.Rxc6 Rxe4 White hat to stop back rank mate so 28.h3Re1+ get's the Bishop.
