Feb-18-08  Benzol: A beautiful Queen offer to end the game.
33...♖e1+ 34.♔h2 ♖h1+ 35.♕xh1 ♕xh1+ 36.♔xh1 gxf6 37.d7 and Black is unable to prevent 38.♖c8 next.
Feb-18-08  slavyi: Oh, well....in your line how would you meet 34....Qxf3. This would threaten mate in one and white does not seem to have the resources to stop it. So pehaps the best reply to 33....Re1+ is 34.Kg2 rather than 34.Kh2
Feb-18-08  Benzol: <slavyi> <Oh, well....in your line how would you meet 34....Qxf3. This would threaten mate in one and white does not seem to have the resources to stop it.> Try 35.♖h4+ gxh4 36.♖xh4+ ♕h5 37.♖xh5#
Feb-19-08  slavyi: Ops, I was looking for the promotion of the d pawn and forgot that white has a mate prepared as well.
Feb-26-11  wordfunph: game sidelight..

"The day before our game, Plachetka and i had a long discussion about chess. I expressed the opinion that, of all possible pawns, the d-pawn was the strongest, and i now had the opportunity to demonstrate my thesis in practice." GM Yuri Razuvaev
