Kibitzer's Corner
Nov-16-04  TheSlid: Interesting game, here, that has attracted little comment. Black plays thematic exchange sac, involving Q exchange and better pawns for black. White seems to overlook that a Knight has no moves and it looks like this is why he loses?
Nov-16-04  euripides: 25 Rh8 is a real blunder at this level. I think only Black has winning chances anyway, as it's very hard to organise White's pieces.
Nov-16-04  rndapology: What's the idea behind 21. a4 exactly?
Nov-17-04  seoulmama: Motylev is a strange player - sometimes he plays absolutely stunning chess, as in Inarkiev-Motylev, -02, but sometimes he commits elementary blunders. Still, one of my modern favourites.
Nov-17-04  TheSlid: Re <rndapology> I looked puzzled at 21.a4 also. After a while I thought maybe white takes away the Knight outpost at c4 and the black a pawns are hard to support (after 21...bxa4).
May-03-05  Minor Piece Activity: I think it's a response to the threat of ...d5 followed by Nc5, after which Motylev will probably end up losing the pawn anyway. So instead he decided to sacrifice it to double his opponent's pawns at least.
Sep-14-06  positionalgenius: A massive tactical game. <fevered cheek> take a look.
