Kibitzer's Corner
Feb-11-05  patzer2: Black's opening strategy is not much of a challenge for White, since after 8...b5 the Opening Explorer shows White has won six and drew six of twelve games played in this line.

White looks much better after 9. Bf4!, when the most common reply, 9...Qb6 as in Kasimdzhanov vs Judit Polgar, 2002, has not been overly helpful for Black.

In this game, Black tries a novelty in 9...Qb7?!, but it looks to have been refuted OTB by White's 10. e5! .

White's strong deflection move 14. Nf5!! wins immediately, and proves Black's entire opening strategy flawed. After Black's 14...d5, White's 15. Nd6+ was good enoughto win; however, Sutovsky could have expedited matters and won more decisively with 14...d5 <15.Qxf6!> Rg8 16.Bd6! Qd7 17.Bxb4 Bxb4 18.Bxd5 Bb7 19.Bb3 Qc7 20.Bxe6! fxe6 21.Qxe6+ Kf8 22.Rd7! .
