Kibitzer's Corner
Feb-12-05  patzer2: Speelman makes a nice attack on the weakened Black castled position. Two noteworthy moves in the attack are the deflections 29. g4!? and 37. Qg2! Note that it is mate after 37.Qg2!Qh7 38.Qf3 Qh6 39.Qg3 Re8 40.d6 Qh7 41.Qf3 Qh6 42.d7 Rf8 43.Qe2 Qc6+ 44.Rg2 Qh6 45.d8Q Rxd8 46.Qxe5+ Kh7 47.Qe7+ Kh8 48.Qxd8+ Kh7 49.Qg8#.

Black may have missed chances to equalize with <27...Nxf3!> (instead of 27...Qh5?!) 28.gxf3 Kh7= and <30...hxg5!> (instead of 30...Kh8?!) 31.Nxg5 Bf6 32.Ne6 fxe6 33.Rg1 Bg5 34.dxe6 (34.h4?? Rf4! ) 34...Kh7 35.Rd5 Rg8 36.Rdxg5 Qxg5 37.Rxg5 Rxg5=.
