Kibitzer's Corner
Apr-22-05  Whitehat1963: Truly impressive performance from Karpov. He looks like he's in trouble early on, but he counters effectively and comes up with a pretty mate. (Also features the Opening of the Day.)
Apr-23-05  knightnblue: 29 ... Re7 allows 30 Bf6 to great effect, as 30 ... Rd7 traps Black's Q on the Kingside. Not that Black has much in the way of an initiative being down a piece less a pawn. And if Black can't play Re7, then he can't double his rooks and gain an attack.

29 ... Re4 30 Bxe4 Qxf1 31 Qb7 Qxf2+
32 Be2 Re8 might offer Black an attack

(if not 30 Bxe4, then either 30... R(e1)-e8 or Rg4 allowing the rook into the kingside spaces)

33 Qa4 Re4 (Kb8? 34 Bb7+! Kxe7 35 Qxe8)
and Black might be able to push f5

Aug-15-07  Zzyw: Couldn't someone have given black a little nudge by, say, move 40 and say "Hey, you're wasting the time of an ex-world champion. Be a doll and resign."
