Mar-20-05  aragorn69: 23.Rxf7 looks like a devastating move. But what exactly happens after 23.-Rxh5 ? : 24.Rxe7 or 24.Rf1 or 24.Qf2 ? I don't see a forced winning line in either case. Anyone with a computer beast would care to comment, please ?
Mar-20-05  ughaibu: Re7 then Qd6 looks good to me. White has Rf1 after which either the queen'll get in or Be5'll be possible.

24. ... Rxh5 would have been perhaps a little longer but nothing nice for black anyway:

25. Rxe7 ... Kxe7
26. Qd6 ... Kf7
27. Nd5!! ... exd5
28. Rf1 ... Ke8
29. Qg6 ... Kd8
30. Bxe5!!
and black is totally lost.
Awesome game by Ivanchuk.

Mar-21-05  aragorn69: Thx a lot <csmath>. 27.Nd5!! is the forced variation I was looking for. Incredible for someone - even Ivanchuk ! - to be able to see all this blindfold. Was he watching at the ceiling like he frequently does during OTB games ?? ;-)
Mar-31-05  bernieno: What was Vallejo thinking about here? He plays as if white had castled to the K-side. Destroys his own K-side structure for no reason. It was actually Ivanchuk who grabbed the initiative.
Dec-23-05  notyetagm: Oh My God! This game is a <blindfold> game by Ivanchuk! Unbelievable.
