Kibitzer's Corner
Mar-29-05  810609: CanĀ“t help myself, but what would happen, if Shirov would have played 36. Qb8?
Mar-29-05  hintza: <810609> I think the line would be something like 36.Qb8+ Ka6 37.Nxc5+ Qxc5 38.Qa8+ Kb6 39.Qd8+ Ka7 40.Kxe2 . I don't know why Shirov didn't play it. I think he missed a win a little later too. 47.Nf7 Kb6 48.Nd8 Kc5 49.Kxb7 Kb4 50.Kxc6 Kxb3 51.Kb5 is winning for White.
Mar-29-05  Kangaroo: After 32. ... Bc5+ I could not understand why Shirov did not take the bishop with the queen.

Then I realized that the continuation

33. Qxc5+ Kxc5. 34. Bxh3 Nxe2+. 35. Kf2 Nxf4
would lead to the ending pretty similar to what was in the game. We will see later how many chances were lost by Shirov in this game.
