Kibitzer's Corner
Jul-08-05  Knight13: 13. Bf4? What the cool does that do to goods? White's king side got weakends, man. The bishop on b7's pretty good on that diagonal... Error?

17... Bxf4! dang, man. "Overlooked."

A GM got beaten "badly," man. White played well! Good game.

Jul-09-05  sandyobrien: Officially my first ignore, man.

tamar: Anyone see an analysis of 17...Bxf4

18 Rcd1 looks sensible, but could White take the bishop?

if 18 gxf4 exd5 19 Bb5 Black can play either 19...c4 or 19...d4. Which is better?

Jul-09-05  Shams: <tamar> I think 19...c4, then perhaps 20.Qd1 Nd3 and: 21.Rb2 Nxf4 looks plenty good for black
21.Nxd5?! fails to ...Qxd5, if not ...Nxc1.

if instead 19.Be2? then ...d4, d3 etc.

it's late and I'm tired, so this is all very improvable

Jul-09-05  Giancarlo: <knight13>
I hardly think 13.Bf4 deserves a <?>. It doesn't really weaken the KS and probably strenghens it after the exchange that follow.
Jul-11-05  Medusa: Bacrot started proving what some of us tought a while ago: that he is overrated, and it hasnt played yet like a 2731!!!! should play

He has played the easiest players in theory to beat, it seems that kasparov, leko, kramnik are going to demolish him.

Jul-11-05  Autoreparaturwerkbau: In my view the black's 2 rooks are off from the start. Is this an odd game?
Jul-20-06  acirce: <tamar> <Accepting the offer gives Black excellent compensation, e.g. 18.gxf4 exd5 19.Bb5 Qf6, and at least from a practical point of view Black's position is more pleasant.> Nielsen annotating the game in New In Chess 2005/06

Not much, but it's something.

Nov-06-17  Retireborn: Nielsen, writing in NiC 2005/6 as instanced below, gives the move order 25...Ra5 26.Nce4 Rd8.

This makes sense, as 25...Rd8 loses instantly to 26.Qb1, whereas after 25...Ra5 26.Qb1 can still be met with 26...f5.
