Sally Simpson: "Monday puzzle after 33.Rh1"

It could actually be a phantom Wednesday/Thursday puzzle if the score was correct.

This position never appeared on the board.

Here is the final position:

White has just played 33.Rh1 but never pressed his clock before the flag fell. A loss on time is recorded but Black has mate in two.

Back on Move 28:

White played 28.Qd1 not as here 28.Qf2.

This position appears on move 30 with Black to play.

It's a Phamtom puzzle because Black, much to Joe's disappointment, never played it.

The game continued:

30. Bg3 Be5 31. c5 Qf6 32. Bxe5 Qxe5 33. Rh1 0-1.

What did Joe understandably miss to end this game. In his own words:

"It's a real shame that I didn't end the tournament with a flourish."
