  ray keene: To my astonishment I have just discovered that this game in its opening stages essentially duplicates Spielmann v Grunfeld Marienbad 1925. Amazing.
Jan-23-22  Z truth 000000001: Using <SCID>'s tree feature, and <Millbase>, I have the following games transposing to the position of this game:

<After White's 8.O-O>

Spielmann vs Gruenfeld, 1925 after 8.d3 - Marienbad (May 1925)

Reti vs Yates, 1925 after 8.d3 - Moscow (Nov 1925)

M Karff vs D Trepat de Navarro, 1939 after 8.a3 - Buenos Aires (Aug 1939)

Interesting to note that Reti and Yates were also at Marienbad.

8...Nh5 is Black's most popular move, getting a balanced result (52% score (for white)).

In this game, it seems 10.Na3 and 11.dxe4 could be improved upon.
