Oct-24-06  ChessDude33: What a nice game, I'm surprised no one has kibitzed on this king-walk of lasker.
Jul-17-07  ALEXIN: Simple and realistic chess from Lasker.
Nov-08-10  drophili: 13. ...bg4+ is better.
Nov-11-10  meppi: 13 bg4 is worse.

Nov-15-14  TheFocus: From a simul at the Cyprus Chess Club in London, England on April 5, 1895.

Lasker scored +16+1-1.

This was not the full score but White eventually won.

  MissScarlett: <Lasker scored +16+1-1.>

According to Whyld, presumably based on the report in the <Morning Post> of April 8th, 1895. p.3. Admittedly, it sounds well-informed: <The champion was opposed by a fairly strong team, and after about three hours' play was successful in 16 games, while one was drawn and one lost. Mr. J. Brierley, a student at Mr. Lasker's lectures, made a good fight and was awarded the draw. The game lost was with Mr. D. Hum, whose victory came about through a slip on the single player's part which cost him a piece.>

On the other hand, the <Standard> of the same day, p.7., has: <Mr. Lasker gave an exhibition of simultaneous play on Friday evening at the Cyprus Chess Club against 20 members of the club. Two of the games we append by courtesy of Mr. Lasker...[there follows this and Lasker vs Hooper, 1895>

So, apparently, straight from the horse's mouth. It's conceivable that a couple of boards had consulting partners, but I'm still inclined to go with it being a 20 board exhibition.

Sep-12-17  Magpye: I concur. The result should be +18-1=1. I believe the newspapers would have mentioned any consulting teams.

8. Kg3 seems too adventurous - Kg1 was much safer
