Aug-05-17  whiteshark: Here you find a photo of <Korvettenkapitän [lieutenant commander] <Behnisch>> with some further information, incl. the tragic circumstances of his death:

"<Korvettenkapitän Behnisch> (*1873 in Görlitz), im selben Jahr Teilnehmer des Hauptturniers B beim Kongress des Schachbundes in Breslau und hier einziger Bezwinger Laskers, hatte schon 10 Jahre zuvor Harry Nelson Pillsbury in einem Berliner Blindsimultan bezwungen!

<Behnisch kam, wie alle der 28 Besatzungsmitglieder, 1913 in Berlin-Johannisthal als Führer der Abnahmekommission des Reichsmarineamtes bei der Zerstörung des Marineluftschiffes LZ 18 ums Leben.>
