mifralu: < Hunt > is not mentioned here:

Lasker's "The London Chess Fortnightly, Vol. 1, 01 October 1892, p. 31"

On the 24th September Mr. E. Lasker gave an exhibition of simultaneous chess at the Cyprus Club, Cheapside. Mr.Lasker encountered a team of 20 players, some of whom were of acknowledged strength. The result of the play was that Mr. Lasker won 15, drew 2 and lost 3. The winners were Messrs. Eastwood, Bateson, and Imbrey, whilst <Messrs. Auger and Wilson drew. > Before the commencement of play, Mr. Lasker was entertained at lunch by the members of the Cyprus Club.

MissScarlett: The <Standard> and <Morning Post> reports of September 26th agree in all details with the <LCF>, except that <Auger> is <Anger>.

<Whyld (1998)> has <J W Hunt>, based on <<Chess Review> Manchester October 1892 p.45.>, This was a short-lived magazine (5 issues) run by Nicholas Theodore Miniati. Determining his source for the game would likely resolve matters.

<Joseph William Hunt> is probably the <Dr J W Hunt> who in 1892 was the president of the North London CC. I suspect a precipitant editor put 2+2 together.

The possibility that <J W Hunt> could be a <J Wilson Hunt> known to Miniati can't be ruled out.
