<42.gxf4> is of course a blunder worthy of branding with a red hot question mark. But how many? Not more than one if White is losing anyway, and Edward Lasker might even applaud the efficiency.

But it looks like a two-spot, since the diagrammed position is no worse than equal for White. One way is 42.Qd7. White may have rejected this due to 42...Qxd7+ 43.Kxd7 f3 44.Ra4 f2 45.Ra1 Bg2, and wins.

But White doesn't have to stop the pawn. Instead, after 43...f3 he can play 44.c5 f2 45.c6 f1Q 46.Rxb7+ Ka8 47.Kxc7:

And if Black is winning this, it's not apparent how.
