Open Defence: Nice to see the Old Benoni making a sort of a comeback... <percy> I think you play the Old Benoni a fair bit right?
May-11-06  percyblakeney: <Open Defence> I'm quite fond of the Benoni, even if I usually prefer the Modern version with e6.

Open Defence: I prefer the Old Benoni and like to transpose into the KID type formations...
Aug-22-08  sultanmir: This is Czech Benoni, not Old Benoni. The difference between the two is the pawn present on c4 here, is absent in Old Benoni.
Jan-23-09  notyetagm: Nice tactic by Aronian, 30 ... ♘h5-g3+!.
Jan-24-09  notyetagm: http://www.amberchess2008.com/amber...:

<In the rapid game Aronian defended himself with the Old Indian Defence. Once White opened the position with 13.f4, Gelfand was clearly better, but he lost his way in the ensuing complications. It’s hard to believe that Gelfand wasn’t winning at some point (or various points), but true to his style, Aronian was quick to grab his chances when they presented themselves. The white position collapsed and Aronian levelled the score in this mini-match.>

Jun-25-10  notyetagm: Game Collection: !! --: A square only appears multiply defended

Gelfand vs Aronian, 2006 30 ... Nh5-g3+! both White g2-queen,h2-pawn must block lines

fredthebear: A delightful blindfold game. One is reminded that a short queen move (1 or 2 squares away) is often the prelude to a long queen move, and vice-versa.
