Kibitzer's Corner
May-12-08  MarkThornton: <9. ...cxd4> worked out very well for Black. But I'd like to know why he didn't play <9....hxg5!?>

After <10. hxg5>, Black has <10...Bxc2!?>, when I can't see anything better than a Queen sacrifice for White, i.e. <11. Rxh8 Bxd1> and now either 12. Rxg8 or 12. Kxd1.

Black wins Queen for Rook and Minor Piece, and the position becomes extremely messy. But I can't see an obviously good continuation for White.

I suspect I am missing something. Hopefully, another kibitzer can tell me what it is.

May-12-08  MarkThornton: After 9....hxg5 10. hxg5 Bxc2 <11. Qf3>, White can limit his losses to a pawn. But he doesn't seem to get much compensation for it.
