Jun-05-06  percyblakeney: 12. Rfe1 looks natural, but doesn't work too good... 13. Bxd4 is impossible because of Qg5.
Jun-05-06  PhilFeeley: Wow! White really got clobbered and he was ahead in development. What happened? Did he leave his knight on d4 too long?

12... Bxd4 13. Bxd4 Qg5 14. Bf1 Nh3+ 15. Kh1 Qxd2.

As <percyblakeney> said Rfe1 is wrong. The play some transpositions the normal move order would be 8. .. Re8 9. f3 Nc6 10. Be3 Nh5.

A sometimes played move is 12. Rfd1 but also Nxc6 may be considered

Sep-26-06  Autoreparaturwerkbau: Since black has so many options on 12...?, it makes it very educating puzzle - especially since the continuation is not so easy to see.
Jul-01-07  pocketkings: development doesn't matter. its the manuvering that does

A good Tuesday puzzle.

Black to play. I can see the key move getting rejected due to 'Rule of Thumb Thinking.'

The correct move is so 'odd' it encouraged White to look a bit deeper as to why it was played and resign instead of replying.

Finding nothing else the solver may go back and discover the key move or perhaps get sucked into 12...Nxd4 which only works if 13.Bxd4 but fails to 13.Bxf4.
