Sep-22-06  Whitehat1963: Here's a game we need to be analyzing to death right now as it relates to Arno Nickel v. The World.
Sep-26-06  AdrianP: I like 14. Na4!? as an improvement suggested by Kritz over Kasim-Lutz, 14. ...ed 15 Nxd3 cd 16 Qxd3 ed 17 Rfe1 Bb5 18 Qd2 Bxa4 19 Rxa4 Rc8 (this is Kritz's mainline, but more analysis is at www.falmouthroad.eclipse.co.uk/Nickel/ )

which Kritz gives as (I agree)

Sep-26-06  RonB52734: Is white's 31.Nd5 the best? It looks like white nearly traps black's queen, but then the bishop fork ultimately traps white's rook and white gives up the rook for a bishop and pawn.

31.Ne4 looks better, as the N may get to d6 and further pressure f7. But white still has to watch for some nasty complications if the black queen gets to e3.

Sep-27-06  Whitehat1963: This game looks to be the most relevant to our game with Arno Nickel.
Sep-28-06  Whitehat1963: Is there anything wrong with 17. d4 instead of f5?
Sep-28-06  chessarmenia: I like 17. g4
Sep-28-06  Whitehat1963: <chessarmenia>, if 17. g4?? Black simply replies Bxg4. Now what?

Sneaky: By move 21 I think Black has way too much counterplay. Note that 23.Bxe5? Qxe5! 24.Qxe5 Rxg2+ etc.
Oct-03-06  Whitehat1963: Would there be any advantage to playing f4 on move 14 instead of 15?
Oct-03-06  classF: <AdrianP> GM Kritz gives 14. Na4!? d5 15. exd5 Nxd3 16. Qxd3 exd5 17 Rfe1 Bb5 18 Qd2 Bxa4 19 Rxa4 Rc8 according to your website, but if black plays 16. ...Nxd5, isn't black the one with a slight advantage? What do you think?
Oct-04-06  AdrianP: <classF> I don't have a board (or an engine) but maybe 17. Bb6 after ...Nxd5 (if 17. ...Nxb6 18. Nxb6 looks like it wins an exchange).
Oct-04-06  classF: <AdrianP> After 14. Na4 d5 15. exd5 Nxd3 16. Qxd3 Nxd5 Rybka 1.0 gives evaluation (-0.18) (depth 18 from final position), with white's best continuation being 17. Bh6. If white instead plays 17. Bb6 Nxb6 18. Nxb6 black schewers white's Queen and Rook, with 18. ...Bb5, forcing the exchange of Queens: 19. Qxd8 Raxd8, leaving black's rook on the open d-file and in no danger.
Oct-09-06  Whitehat1963: Looking at this game again, we might easily transpose back into this in the next couple of moves in Arno v. World.
Jan-12-07  Shajmaty: 14. f4! played by The World (ChessGames) improves 14. Bb6.
