plang: 9 0-0 is the usual move; Timman innovated with 9 Qd3 which led to an easy equality for Black. 31 Rf1? would have lost to 31..f5. Van Wely, after the game, found a tricky winning line starting with 45..Bg5! 46 Re1..Kxh7 47 Re7+..Kg6 48 Ra7..Re4! 49 Rxa6..Re3 50 Rb6..Rg3 51 Ne1..Bd2 52 Rxb4..Kg5 although he was not too hard on himself as this line was not easy to find over the board. Not 52..f5 due to 53 Rh5..f4 54 Ne5.
