Mateo: That was a very funny game and could be an entertaining <game of the day> for <chessgames.com>. Onyekwere played an interesting sacrifice of the exchange. He won a pawn for the exchange, destroyed White's pawn structure and got some pressure on the long diagonal. But then he lost his way.

25...Kf8?! allows a nice tactical answer. In order to prevent what happened 25...Rh6! seemed a good defence, as 26.Rxh4?? Bxg2+ wins for Black.

In the game actually played, after 25...Kf8? 26.Rxh4! Bxg2+ <26...Rxh4 27.Qxh4 Bxg2+ 28.Kg1 Kg8 29.Re3, White has the advantage too.> 27.Kg1! Rxh4 <27...Bxh3 28.Rxh8+ Ke7 29.Rxa8, White wins. This is the point> 28.Qxh4 Nf6 29.Qh8+ Ng8 30.Re3 <White wins the g pawn and the game.>.

Apr-12-07  Atking: <Mateo> Yes an entertaining game. I like Black too after your suggestion. 25. ...Rh6! A nice one.
Apr-15-07  BadTemper: why not 30.. Bh1
Apr-15-07  Atking: <BadTemper: why not 30.. Bh1> because of 31.Rg3 xg7
