OBIT: 7...f5!? is a subtle move - too bad this is the only example of it in the database - and White's 8. Bd3 response in this game can't be the best way to challenge it. With the kingside barricaded, Black then plays 9...Bc7 to prevent the knight from ever occupying d6, and he emerges from the opening with a solid defensible position and an extra pawn.

The real test comes after 8. Nd6+ Kf8 9. Bd2. Now White gets a good game after 9...Nc6 10. axb4! (but not after 10. Nf3 bxa3! 11. Rxa3 Bc7, similar to the game); for example, 10...Bxb4 11. Bxb4 Nxb4 12. Nf3 Qc7 13. c4!, giving White strong play on the queenside. Maybe 9...bxa3 is a better try for Black, when 10. Rxa3 Nc6 11. Bxh5 Nxh5 is a difficult position for both sides (although it certainly seems like White's strongly posted knight and queenside pressure is worth the pawn).
