Kibitzer's Corner
Aug-11-07  azi: How can this even be considered to be a Reti opening? It can't be only because the first move is nf3, because then the tens of thousands of properly named Queens Gambits, e.g. (which began life as nf3s [but are not Retis!]]would have to be renamed.

Also the are no fianchettos, the Reti hallmark and the opening strategy is not at all of the hypermodern school, where the center is controlled from the wings. I think too that anyone searching this game by positions would have a long wait if they were looking under Reti opening for similar positions. All in all, there is a case for relabeling this game under another rubric.

That old Johnny Cash song, "A Boy Namd Sue"- name him anything but Sue, in this case, Reti, comes to mind and might be proper. :)

Anyone agree?
