His King's position is then thoroughly compromised after Aitken's 21. Qh4!. Stahlberg loses after all the normal defensive tries:

<22. h3> Bxg2 23. Kxg2 Qxh3+ 24. Kg1 Qh1 mate; or
<22. g3> Qxg3+ 23. hxg3 Rh1 mate.
