Feb-23-08  Hesam7: <Eyal> do you have an engine running on this game?
Feb-23-08  panzerkampf: with double pawns, white has a worse position here without queens around
Feb-23-08  MindCtrol9: I think the idea is not really exchange the Q,but to place the Night on <d5> and Bishop on <c3>
Feb-23-08  Eyal: <Hesam7> Yeah - current evaluation is slightly in favor of black.

Eric Schiller: I'd rather be Black now. White's king is rather lacking in clothes and the doubled pawn is useless.
Feb-23-08  AdrianP: Quite a rich position - White can still be better even after losing one of his b-pawns.

Eric Schiller: White has only one pawn that isn't weak.
Feb-23-08  MindCtrol9: <I do think Anand trading Qeens was not a good idea. This must be avoided>

Eric Schiller: I don't like the knight retreat. 30...Re4 looked much more active.
Feb-23-08  Marmot PFL: Looks like anand found a line to keep some space edge though. Not sure Ne7 was best.

Eric Schiller: Drawn. Disappointing, it showed promise for a while.

  Domdaniel: Draw was inevitable
Feb-23-08  Marmot PFL: Shirov up a pawn on Radja could be exciting.
Feb-23-08  hedgeh0g: Draw.
Feb-23-08  panzerkampf: why not taking a pawn with Re4 and retreating?? is it reasonable?? again draw, 3 draws in 2 days quite boring..
Feb-23-08  doglikegroove: Barf! A draw. I'm with Eric; I don't like the knight retreat either. Oh well, the night calls. Later, guys.
Feb-23-08  MindCtrol9: <Of course.That was the result after trading Qeens>
Feb-23-08  Ulhumbrus: Anand's main asset in the ending may turn out to be that because of his advantage in space, his King is several moves ahead of Black's King in development.
Feb-23-08  Ulhumbrus: No, they have agreed a draw. One question is whether White's King can penetrate Black's Queen side.

Domdaniel: Draws aren't *all* bad -- Aronian-Leko was a superb game, never mind the result.

An Englishman: Good Afternoon: So why is Anand having trouble with the white pieces in this tournament? I'm surprised he isn't offering to take Black in every game. Not that the arbiters would allow this...
Feb-23-08  Wild Bill: Aronian has three pawns for a piece against Magnus.
Feb-23-08  grebenarov: pity. topalov would have never agreed a draw in this position with black unless he had already won the tournament
Feb-23-08  Slink: <cg.com> carlsen-aronian?

Domdaniel: <An Englishman> 1.a3 would solve his problems, wouldn't it? Or even 1.c3 followed by an opportune c4 to lose that nasty 'white' tempo. Then Anand should win easily.
