Kibitzer's Corner
Apr-10-08  outsider: i think there was no need to give up yet, but every professional MUST know the basics of the systems he/she is playing
Apr-10-08  Alphastar: Wow lol, that is a very fast resignation
Apr-10-08  Whitehat1963: What the heck's the finish???
Apr-10-08  Jim Bartle: I assume if black takes the knight, then Ba4. But that only wins a pawn as far as I can see.
Apr-10-08  TheBB: Yes, but white has an excellent game anyway. Perhaps there's no need to resign just yet, but there'll be a long and painful defense for black.
Apr-10-08  hellopolgar: did a 13 year old girl just beat a 2600+ GM in about 15 moves?
Apr-10-08  Wild Bill: <hellopolgar: <did a 13 year old girl just beat a 2600+ GM in about 15 moves?>>

No. She celebrated her 14th birthday in February.

Apr-10-08  sitzkrieg: So what to move after Na3?
Apr-11-08  DarthStapler: I believe this is what is known as "premature resignation"
Apr-11-08  socnegoti: well it must be very depressing to be a pawn down so early on...
Apr-11-08  DarthStapler: As a gambit player, that makes no sense to me

Looks familiar?

16...Nc5 17.Bc4 Rd8 18.Na3 c6 19.Ba2 cxd5 20.exd5 e4 21.Nh2 h5 22.Nf1 Nd3 23.Rxe4 Nxc1 24.Qxc1 Nxd5 25.Re2 Qb7 26.Bxd5 1/2-1/2

Apr-11-08  KarAkter: After 14.Na3,ed4 is better than Qb8.For example:15.cd4 Qb8 16.Lf4(If now d5 Nce5 17.Ne5 Ne5=)Re8 17.Re3 g6...and black is still in game
May-07-08  achieve: Premature resignation indeed...

A VERY sharp line arises from

15...c6! (very strong temporary pawn "sac", and White has to calculate very accurate not to lose a piece...) 16. dxc6 Nc5 17. Bc4 Bxc6 18. Qxd6 Nxe4 19. Qxb8 Rxb8 11. b4 *

And White has the advantage, still, after these tactics, but of course I had the assistance from a strong engine -- whereas these complex 12+ ply calculations are almost impossible to do OTB.

May-07-08  achieve: Sorry - not 15...c6 but <16...c6>

I screwed up the move numbers but the moves/line is OK.

May-07-08  Philip Law: A future star is born. :)
May-04-09  wanabe2000: After the loss against Koneru vs Granda-Zuniga, 2008 in round three maybe he had enough of the top women players.
