Kibitzer's Corner
Apr-05-16  ozmikey: An extraordinary game! Very original opening play by Black (I was dying for him to play ...f6 at some stage between moves 16 and 20, for obvious aesthetic reasons) and outstanding defensive skill after the sacrifice. It reminded me of an Andy Soltis comment about a similar game in which there was no capture for a very long time; he remarked that the first capture (on about move 30) was "naturally, a grave error". You could say the same about 26. Nxg5, but objectively it's screaming out to be played...Suttles simply handled the resulting position better.

I do wonder whether it was possibly a loss on time though, since the final position seems grim for White but not yet dead lost. After 52...Bh4 White can't play 53. Qxd5?? Nf4+ or 54. Qd2? Re2+! and ...Nf4+, but after 53. Qg4 or Qf5 it seems that he can still fight on for a bit.
