OBIT: As Larsen states in his book "Larsen's Selected Games of Chess," a From's Gambit was played at the request of the editor of the Danish newspaper "Dagens Nyheter," hoping this would lead to a game with drama. Larsen concludes, "Mr. Bohmgren was right. It was exactly the right opening to make an exciting game for the readers!" (By the way, Nyman wanted to resign after 20...Rd2, but the game was played to mate for the benefit of the readers.)

Larsen says Nyman's mistake is 9. Bh4? Instead, he should have played 9. Bxf6 Qxf6 10 e4. "After 10...Bf5 11. Nc3 it is easy for Black to win back his pawn, but the game is about even. If Black wants to try for more, he must play 10...Bg4 in order to prove the drawbacks of 8. a3 in comparison to 8. c3: the queen's pawn is not solidly protected. But after 10...Bg4 11. Nbd2 it is not easy to easy how Black is to break through." -Larsen
