Kibitzer's Corner
Sep-20-08  fref: Short draw.
Sep-20-08  Xeroxx: <Short draw.>

I agree

Sep-20-08  whiteshark: <I agree>

I won't contradict

Sep-20-08  Shockwave: <I won't contradict>

I concur.

Sep-20-08  goldenbear: Much more logical is 8.Ne3. After 8.Ne5 a5, I prefer Black.
Sep-21-08  Gilmoy: <goldenbear> So does Svidler :)
Sep-21-08  stardust762: Svidler offered the draw and Wang Yue accepted prematurely. In my opinion, Yue would be better after 15...Bc5, with good chances to win.

This point explains why Carlsen is popular. He would keep on playing - I think so.

Sep-21-08  Atking: 15...Bc5 May be but then 16.Qd3 and what? 16...BxNf3 17.BxBf3 Ne5 18.Bh5+ (Qe2 maybe playable too) 18...g6 19.QxQd8+ ~20.BxBc5 or 16...Be6!? 17.BxBc5 NxBc5 18.Qe3 Qe7 19.e5 (e.g Bc4 20.Rfe1 Nd3? 21.exf) Optically Black looks good but weakness are there (d6-e6 an a King in the center). I think the position nearly balanced. But I agree completely with your second statement about Carlsen's fighting spirit.
Sep-21-08  chess4life234: I would say it is about even, but there is still a lot of fight left in the position...
Sep-22-08  wanabe2000: Peter Svidler is afraid of Wang Yue after Baku. Yue should have played on to establish an edge for the future.
