Kibitzer's Corner
Oct-14-08  Resignation Trap: Now there's something you don't see often - Black has to lose an exchange in the endgame to prevent his king from getting mated on d5 by 65.Ne7+.
Oct-15-08  visayanbraindoctor: My post in the tournament corner:

Timofeev seems to have blundered, walking his King into a self-mate (or lose a rook). So now Vitiugov is half a point behind Alekseev who is now in sole first.

The final position of Vitiugov vs Timofeev is quite amusing. With only 2 minor pieces plus his own King, White is threatening mate against a Black King in the middle of the board.

Oct-15-08  Gilmoy: Vitiugov: <Own king is to be acting like horizontal rook -- but how to force his king forward ...>

Timofeev: <I seize the opposition! Now if I check you, your King must retreat!>

Vitiugov: <... that is working ...>

Timofeev: <Why do you smile? I hate it when you do that!>

Sep-12-11  Old King Cole: What'cha got? A timeout ever? (A strained pun. Now let me see if it fits the game, bet ya it will.) From the comment, it looks endgam-ish studious.
Sep-12-11  Old King Cole: In the early portions of the game, Black tries to fastbreak White, already a fastbreak team. His teammates having fouled out, the black rook is overworked and could use a timeout in the game's last half, if not more. (Show me) "what'cha got ... a timeout, ever?" (a strained pun, its last half)
