fredthebear: Be2 London System vs Indian, almost symmetrical after ten ply. Black misplays his e-pawn advance. Very closed game challenging the heavy Black pieces to defend backward pawns; it failed.

This game was unique to the database from the eighth ply. Stockfish says the typical ...e5 thrust should have occurred after the initial exchange of knights in the center:

1) -0.52 (24 ply) 8...Nxd2 9.Qxd2 e5 10.dxe5 dxe5 11.Bg3 Qe7 12.e4 f6 13.Qe3 Nb6 14.Rac1 Rd8 15.c4 c5 16.Rcd1 Bd7 17.h3 Bc6 18.b3 Qf8 19.Bd3 Rd7 20.Bc2 Bh6 21.Qc3 Rad8 22.Rxd7 Rxd7

Also 13...Qxb2 is playable, as 14.Nc4 is met by 14...Qc2. A modern looking 13.b4 was suggested.

16...Nd5? is a slight mistake. Again, the ...e5 pawn thrust was still ready for play. 1) -0.01 (26 ply) 16...e5 17.Bg3 Ne4 18.Bh2 Be6 19.f3 Ng5 20.e4 f6 21.dxe5 dxe5 22.Kh1 Nf7 23.Bg1 c5 24.Be3 b6 25.Rd2 f5 26.Rcd1 f4 27.Bf2 Red8 28.b3 Rxd2 29.Rxd2 Bf6 30.Qd1 Rd8 31.Rxd8+ Qxd8 32.Qxd8+ Bxd8 33.Be1 Bxc4 34.Bxc4 Kg7

27...e6? was a blunder, allowing 28.dxe6 and Black is stuck defending the backward d6-pawn with his pieces, allowing White to occupy d5 with lasting pressure. Instead, 27...f5 was an improvement, but White still has an edge.

The pawn structure determines what the pieces can/must do. I did not analyze every move. These were the slight inaccuracies that I noticed during replay and requested confirmation. I'll ask Stockfish to post it's full game analysis.
