Jan-23-09  sandmanbrig: what on earth was w/ 37... Rb4?
Jan-23-09  stanleys: <sandmanbrig: what on earth was w/ 37... Rb4?>

A positional sacrifice,I suppose

Jan-23-09  s4life: <sandmanbrig: what on earth was w/ 37... Rb4?>

overconfidence maybe... I really don't know what was the pay off.

Jan-23-09  Marmot PFL: Hou says beating white men is easy. They are stupid and boring. This one I could beat in 30 moves but I play with him instead. I am already famous so it does not matter.
Jan-23-09  parmetd: Hou showed an utter lack of execution in this game so maybe she better not talk anymore.
Jan-23-09  Raginmund: ahhahahahahha, Bravo Hou!!!
Well, I don't care, I'm not white.
. Well, our dear Mecking show us how not to play chess, third loss to ruy lopez, third time that he plays Nh5, Na5, g6, Bd7, Be7, Qc7...

I don't know why on earth he keeps playing this way.
After Rb4 (???), he spent around 40 moves without absolutely having nothing to do. Look at the position on move 26. All pieces on 7th and 8th rank.

This is not better way to play.

Well, against Sasikiran ... will be harder,,,,
let's wait and see.

Jan-24-09  Karpova: <parmetd> <Raginmund> Yifan Hou never said that, for sure.
Jan-24-09  stanleys: <Karpova> It's true.And some guys here,who don't know anything about chess,would better shut up.
Jan-24-09  Ladolcevita: No way Hou would say that,as a Chinese,i am sure Hou is a polite and quiet girl. Unlike westerners,Chinese are generally modest.....especially educated people, and especially girls....
Jan-24-09  DeltaHawk: I think <Marmot PFL> is being sarcastic.
Aug-17-10  Ulhumbrus: An alternative to 22...b4 is 22...a4. On 22...a4 23 ba ba Black occupies the b file and the Black QB defends the a4 pawn.

i believe so, i have a pic with GM Hou Yifan taken last year and she seems courteous.

37...Rb4?

what's the justification of GM Mecking's sac move?
