Kibitzer's Corner
Apr-05-09  Chicago Chess Man: Talk about an upset. It looks like black over-extends himself with 19...c4. White's 21 e4! shatters black's pawn center.
Apr-05-09  notyetagm: I predicted that Ivanov would win this game. :-)

Open Defence: what if it was a draw ?
Apr-05-09  notyetagm: <Open Defence: what if it was a draw ?>

Then I'd be wrong.

Apr-05-09  DCP23: <Chicago Chess Man: Talk about an upset.>

No upset here. White is GM Sergey Ivanov, rated 2551. Black is IM Alexey Ivanov rated 2413.

Apr-06-09  Chicago Chess Man: <dcp23> i guess the ratings on the game score are incorrect then...
Apr-07-09  kirkow: Why not 28. Nc6 instead of d5?
Apr-07-09  Alphastar: <kirkow> because the knight on e5 dominates black's position. Nc6 would allow black to solve the problem of his b8-knight while at the moment he can't play Nd7 because Nc6 is always on the cards. Besides, it would bring his bishop to life.
Apr-07-09  kirkow: thanks!
