Sally Simpson: A 1980 book about the 1978 Kiev tournament appeared in Russia written by Marusenko & Peresipkin.

They proudly proclaim that of 120 games 58 were decisive. Yet by glancing at the given table of 15 players one can see the maths do not add up.

A 15 round event with 15 players = 105 games and one player getting a bye per round.

One player was missing and it was Lev Alburt who defected shortly after this event. His name and games were left out of the book but this typo crept in.

'The Human Comedy in Chess' (page 301) by Hans Ree.

For the record Lev finished 5th with 8½ pts.
