Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-11-09  just a kid: Black lost for showing up 5 seconds late.
Jun-11-09  Marmot PFL: I heard that in Japan showing up on time means arriving 10 minutes early, but didn't know that China was like that. (In some South American countries you can be 30-45 minutes late for meetings and still be one of the first to arrive.)
Jun-11-09  WhiteRook48: losing for showing up 5 seconds late? That is so insane
Jun-11-09  Octal: That's very unfair when you consider that Chinese people have short legs. It takes them a long time to get from one place to another!
Jul-31-09  YoungEd: Yeah, <Octal>? Hou Liang are your legs, anyway? :)
Aug-10-09  Dredge Rivers: Hey, Black was just emulating Bobby Fischer!
Jul-31-16  Whitehat1963: Where's the move list?
Sep-15-17  notyetagm: <just a kid: Black lost for showing up 5 seconds late.>

She was seated at the board but then realized she didn't have anything to write with. So she got up and went to the TD's table to get a pencil. And that is when an arbiter started the clock. So although she was only like 30 feet away from the board AND IN THE SAME ROOM, she was forfeited.

Feb-02-22  JimmyVermeer: That is such a BS policy. White should've just made a move, and then started Black's clock, and then if she doesn't show up by the time her clock runs out, THEN she forfeits.
