bright1: After 39 Rf2 Qd5+ wouldn't 40 e4 save the Bishop? (at the cost of dropping a pawn) White's position still looks bad after that, however.
Aug-13-09  ozmikey: White still loses the piece after 40. e4: 40...Qxe4+ and now:

41. Kg3 Rxd2 and ...Qe3+,

41. Kf1 Qd3+ 42. Ke1 Rxd2 43. Rxd2 Qe3+ (or 43. Rb8+ Kh7 44. Rxd2 Qg3+),

41. Kg1 Rxd2 42. Rb8+ Kh7 43. Rxd2 Qe3+ 44. Rf2 Qg3+,

41. Kh2 Rxd2 and ...Qf4+.

Good old octopus queens. ;-)

Aug-19-09  dhotts: Why 30.h3? Why not 30.Rxa6?
