Kibitzer's Corner
Aug-13-09  redwhitechess: adventurous game by both side. but why 24.Qh5? it is expected the bishop will retreat and attacking the c6 pawn.
Aug-13-09  beenthere240: <redwhitechess> with the inevitable loss of the c6 pawn, I think black was trying to get some counterplay. From h5, the queen and d8 rook both attack the d1 square. Eventually there were tactics like that, but it just ended up in black losing more pawns (and the exchange to boot).
Aug-13-09  aragorn69: Timman is really destroying the England B-team here! Someone should have told them what the Soviet used to think: Timman's openings are unsound and his tactics are flawed... ;-))
Aug-13-09  Ulhumbrus: Instead of 10...Nfd7, 10...Nbd7 gets the QN out. On 10...Nbd7 11 c4 bc 12 bc e5 13 e3 Re8 Black may have the better of it. The move 10...Nfd7 makes a concession to White. It spends a tempo on withdrawing the KN instead of on developing the QN. This suggests the following question: What does Black get in return for making this concassion to White?
Aug-13-09  redwhitechess: btw, Timman is dominating with 4.5/5 now.
