FSR: Nice psych-out of Dragon-lover Kornfeld by Tim. Probably 3...Nc6! is more accurate.

FSR: Another disaster for Black after 6.e5: D Ariel vs J Herms Agullo, 2011

FSR: Black's score after 6.e5 is horrible:
Opening Explorer Maybe he should deviate with 5...f6 as in Keres vs I Bilek, 1967 or even 4...Nd7 as in Jansa vs Csom, 1987 (each of which was played only once in the database, but drew).

  FSR: I played 3...e5 in K Miettinen vs F Rhine, 2024 (1/2-1/2, 34). 3...Nc6, 3...Nf6, and 3...a6 (Najdorf, anyone?) are all fine. As Kornfeld discovered, 3...g6 is more problematic. Stockfish 16.1 hates my suggestions of 4.d4 Nd7 (5.Bc4 cxd4 6.Qxd4 +1.3) and 4.d4 cxd4 5.Qxd4 f6? (6.Be3 Nh6 7.h3+- +1.7). No, 4...cxd4 5.Qxd4 Nf6, as Kornfeld played, is correct. After 6.e5, he should have played 6...Nc6! 7.Bb5 dxe5! 8.Qxd8+ Kxd8 9.Bxc6 bxc6 10.Nxe5 Ke8! with a playable position, e.g. 11.O-O Nd5! 12.Bd2 Bg7 or 11.Bd2 Bg7 12.O-O-O Ng4! +0.45). But Black must play exactly to not get smashed, so the best course is to avoid 3...g6 and play one of the other fourth moves I suggested.
