HeMateMe: Can someone explain the pun?

offramp: It's a pun on "Put the blame on Mame."
Jun-19-18  ChessHigherCat: It's a pun on the "Bhat Man and Robson".

Either that or: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/It%27...

Jun-19-18  AlastairMarston: "It's a shame about Ray" was the title of a very good album by the Lemonheads back in the early 1990s.
Jun-19-18  Ironmanth: This is a fantastic game; thanks chessgames!! Y'all have a great summer; stay cool, folks. :))

Thanks, Mr. Marston, for the explanation.

So it turns out, this is no pun at all. The GOTD title is just the name of an album.

What's next, Exile on Main Street? Back in Black? Pet Sounds?

Anyway, I remember the Lemonheads. Or am I thinking of Blind Lemon Jefferson?

Dionysius1: How would those link up to the fact that Ray was one of the players, and he lost?

Whatch Bhat Man baht-Ray Robson?

Jun-19-18  ChessHigherCat: No wait, that's too good. How about "Bhat a Boom Ray Robson?"
Jun-19-18  catlover: Personally, I like "Bhat Man and Robson" best.

Vinay Bhat made good use of the connected passed pawns.

Jun-19-18  cormier: Notes by Stockfish 8 19... Bg4?, <19...Ng4> 20.Ndf3 Bf6 21.f5 c4 22.Nxg4 hxg4 23.Nh2 b4 = -0.11 (29 ply) 20. Ng4 +/ = +0.86 (29 ply)

Usually GOTD doesn't feature the same player every day.

Jun-19-18  Castleinthesky: Two promotions in one game, nice!
