Jan-02-10  notyetagm: Damn, Nyzhnyk just *killed* these GMs in this tournament.

Second coming of Magnus Carlsen?

Jan-02-10  redwhitechess: good game. white 8.Bg5 and 9.Bg5 again, is it a normal line?

carlsen can make it from norway, and he is from ukraine.

Jan-02-10  pawn to QB4: <white 8.Bg5 and 9.Bg5 again, is it a normal line?> fairly regular idea in this and related lines, although other things are more common. Certainly not the losing plan: he got outplayed later on. Thanks for drawing my attention to this one, sort of thing I play a lot, and here's the sort of talented youngster who can show us old timers how to do it.
Mar-26-10  DiscoJew: Boys lets be honest this was a scrap!!! Little Nyzzy just brings it hard with black...9.f5 here is NOT the normal line, but offers some creative unbalancing chances early on for black. A good example is Ivanchuck-Bologan Canadian Open 2005 here ~~> Ivanchuk vs Bologan, 2005

The fact that young Illya is playing the King's Indian is noteworthy; it is interesting to see the natural "flavor" of the King's Indian naturally flow out and compliment and thrive off of the child's style of play. The fact that they keep trading blows, but black keeps finding good resources through dynamics is no accident, thats one of the reasons that the King's Indian is so famous...!

The child just dukes it out with a 2600 GM twice his age showing little respect. The fact that white gets mated is just hilarious, I mean I laughed out loud when I saw blacks 48th :)

Good example/study game, nice streetfight style scrap, nice will power from black, and interesting tactics.

Mar-26-10  wordfunph: a slambang heart-pounding game...this is chess!

Sipke should have waved the white flag after 40...Re6

imho, no way he could win with 2 doubled pawns against 4 pawns by Nyzhnyk..

Mar-26-10  DiscoJew: <wordfunph> "imho, no way he could win with 2 doubled pawns against 4 pawns by Nyzhnyk.."

I agree, must have been a time scramble, or? Again its hilarious the kid turns this mistake into a mate a few sort moves later!!

:)
