Kibitzer's Corner
Jan-07-10  17.Bxg7: Too bad for Gashimov, he had great chances to win this game, but didn't found the best moves in time trouble and precisely, he blunders in move 40 with 40..Rb1? instead of 40.f6, for example. I think the position after 40.f6 is equal (with not enough proof), but definitely Gashimov got a losing position once the first time control finished.
Jan-07-10  returnoftheking: He is up a pawn in the opening, but I am not sure he had real winning chances. Still it's quite amazing that Gashimov lost the position after 26.h4; it looks incredibly easy to draw it at least by putting some pawns on the white squares.
Jan-07-10  sultanmir: This is a known variation in which white gives up pawns for rapid development. I feel white came better out of the opening.
