  Sally Simpson: Hmmm.....

Move 60. I wonder if the next time control was move 60 and Black never had time for pausing before promoting.

Had a wee run through the game. Black may be one of these guys who gets imto time trouble by habit. We need to look for clues.

Here....Black to play, move 38. (close enough for time trouble.)

Instead of snatching the pawn with 38...Rxf4 with a bit more time he may have spotted 38...Nc7 which threatens Nb5+ and mate next move. White will have to play Rxc7 and that is clean a 0-1 without playing on.

Awful thing time trouble, the mind goes to jelly.

Pearl divers can hold their breath for 5 minutes. I often wonder if pearl divers would be any good at 5 minute chess. If you panic in that last 30 seconds under water you could die.

So I reckon pearl divers would be good at 5 minute chess because they would not panic in the last 30 seconds.
