Oct-01-10  Marmot PFL: 9...Qb8 is "book". maybe black is just lost after 9...Qc7 10 Bxb5!
Oct-01-10  jon01: Wow, Kamsky blunders a pawn on a 9th move.

Sutovsky's 30 ♗d6-e7 shows the point behind the sacrifice 29 ♕c5x♖c8+!: White now has the *classic* piece layout for what I call <THE SUPPORTED ROOK TRICK>.

The nasty tacitcal point is that Black cannot save both his queen from a <ROOK FORK> *and* his king from a <BACK RANK MATE>. White thus wins back his queen, leaving himself ahead a piece in the endgame.

Game Collection: Supported rook trick based on weak back rank,K+Q 29 Qc5xRc8+! then 30 Bd6-e7 leads to standard double attack

Oct-06-10  kurtrichards: <8. ... Nge7> why block the path of KB? <9. ... Qc7 > was this game a giveaway? ...and we were told that seconds were there to prepare your sandwiches and milk.
Oct-08-10  splatty: Quite incredible Kamsky slipped up so early.
Oct-19-10  Ulhumbrus: The move 10 Bxb5 suggests one way to answer a Taimanov formation in the Sicilian: To vandalize it by sacrificing a piece on b5, before Black can complete his development.
Jul-13-12  notyetagm: Game Collection: SUPPORTED ROOK TRICK BASED ON WEAK BACK RANK,K+Q
