Jan-02-11  arnaud1959: A Bishop vs. Knight ending at 25th move!

It's funny to see those wild openings which are analysed so thoroughly that unexpectedly they finish by a draw.

tamar: if 23...Nc6 24 Rxb7 anyway seems to lead to a draw.

Wouldn't that be a win for white?

White has slightly better King position, but the extra g pawn evens it out.

Judging by the databases, as well as the time spent by the two players from the early stages of the game, in this case it wasn't hope prep. The combination of ...h6 (played <before> Qb6) by Black and f5 by White is quite rare, and by move 13 it was already a new position.

The moves 15.g3 and 16...hxg5 allow the rather unusual ...Qxg3+, which leads by a forcing sequence to what looks like a drawn endgame. Perhaps White can try and play for more with 17.c3 or 0-0.
